October 2022 Project Update
Since the June 15, 2021 approval of the NE Gateway PD&E Study, Leon County-City of Tallahassee Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency (Blueprint) has made significant progress in the design phase of the project. The project has been separated into two phases. Phase 1 includes Welaunee Blvd. south of Interstate-10 (I-10) and the bridge over I-10. Phase 2 includes Welaunee Blvd north of I-10, Shamrock Street Extension, Pimlico Extension, the Northeast Park Access Road, and the Welaunee Greenway. 60% Design Plans have been completed for Phase 1 including Welaunee Boulevard and the I-10 Bridge, and are nearing completion for the Phase 2 Roadway. Right-of-Way acquisition and coordination with affected property owners has been initiated. FDOT and FHWA have approved the new overpass bridge over I-10. Construction of Phase 1 is anticipated to begin in Summer of 2023.
October 2021 Project Update
As part of the final design survey for the NE Gateway – Welaunee Boulevard project, the Leon County-City of Tallahassee Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency (Blueprint) will begin selective field mowing activities to support collecting survey information and performing geotechnical borings for the project.

September 2021 Project Update
Leon County-City of Tallahassee Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency (Blueprint) began conducting field surveys for the anticipated Northeast Gateway and Welaunee Greenway beginning the week of July 12, 2021. This comprehensive data is necessary to assist in the planning and design of the Northeast Gateway: Welaunee Boulevard project.
Shown below are crews performing an assessment of field conditions to evaluate environmental features which will aid in determining the final alignment of the Northeast Gateway and Welaunee Greenway.

June 2021 Project Update
The Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency (IA) Board, approved the Final Draft PD&E Study at their June 15, 2021 meeting. With this approval, the project team continues to finalize the project documents and will initiate the Design Phase of the project in the coming months.
January 2020 Project Update
The Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency (IA) Board, at their January 30, 2020 meeting, completed the substantial amendment process to include an extension of Welaunee Boulevard north over I-10 to Roberts Road, as well as an extension of Shamrock Street South to intersect with the Welaunee Boulevard Extension east of Centerville Road.
